To Digg or not to Digg: That is the question
mariagudelis | November 5, 2008“Digg is a place for people to discover and share content from anywhere on the web. From the biggest online destinations to the most obscure blog, Digg surfaces the best stuff as voted on by our users. You won’t find editors at Digg” (About Page, Digg).
A lot of webmasters today express their concern over the traffic they get from Digg. Some internet marketing professionals claim that Digg is not the best option for promoting sites as it requires a lot of time as an investment and though there’s a lot of traffic coming from Digg, the rate of conversion is pretty low. Aside from this, many claim that the traffic coming from Digg is fleeting and will not translate to long term traffic.
My personal experiences say the same thing but this is not to say that Digg is worthless when it comes to internet advertising. It all depends on what your goals are. Social networking, as the name implies, is SOCIAL €“ that means it isn’t just a day affair and you will need to invest time and effort in the long term. By actively participating on the site, you can get a lot of readers and by making interesting content, you can actually build a Digg culture on your blog.
