Shock and Awe Future Clients

maria gudelis | November 9, 2009

shockTyler, a student of our recent Ultimate Cash System, found an AWESOME article online just the other day, that we thought was TERRIFIC!!!

And at the end of the article, you can see just how Maria’s Offline Money Mindmap can be used as a VERY powerful tool.

This process is the cornerstone of what Offline Marketing Consultants can do for clients, and an excellent
Strategy to gain new clients.

Check it out here, then come back and leave your feedback!

    Hi, Maria,

First time to really read of you and I like your approach and content to/for consulting. You are a great model for the ‘new generation’ of consultants and business coaches.

I’ve been out of the professional services biz since I sold my National Association of Business Coaches in 2002. But being from the ‘old crusty’ clan of Baby Boomers, was the publisher of the “Consulting Opportunities Journal” (tabloid) and Consultants National Resource Center in Washington, DC back in the late 1970s and 1980s with my dear (late) friends Herman Holtz, Hubert Bermont and Howard Shenson.

This will give you a little backgrounder on me and will give your readers a little street cred for me for gushing over you!

Your style makes me want to jump back into the business! Keep it going!

Hey Steve! What an honor to hear / read your words above…

Tis a great time for a baby boomer to jump back in! The astounding availability of consulting tools today
      are fantastic!

Combine that with full reality based selling, transparency etc. and it is a fun time to

      “Jump Back into the Biz”!

      Cheers, Maria

    Hi Maria,

Nice post. This is a very useful tip and I am willing to apply it to myself. I agree on you that clients really don’t care on your past experiences but what they care most is what you can do to their business. If they can guarantee that they can have their money back after spending for SEO. thanks – Robert

That is right Robert -they just want to know the benefits up front! We live in a ADD society and the faster they get that message, the better for all! Cheers, Maria Gudelis

    Good Morning Maria,

This article is what I call “Peak Awareness”..the points discussed bring to mind what one is doing or not doing and for me,to take action on the ones I need to address. Keep articles like this one coming.

Can’t wait to hear you speak at Jeff Mills workshop next month in MN. See you then.

    Hey Maria,

This article with it’s short script was great. This script coupled with yours & David Chambless’ “3 Magic Words” info & you’re all set!

    Thanks,
    Cynthia

    Hi Maria,
First, thank you for all of the useful info…you’re like the gift that keeps on giving. Next I thank all of the members who share so freely.
I was thinking about a nice play-by-play script a few weeks ago and this is great. I am looking forward to any vids that show an example screen capture of this. Again many thanks,
    Peter

The article is definitely a great read and worth analyzing to make it fit into what you’re already doing.

One of my latest strategies that makes it easy to engage new clients with doing on the spot marketing analysis (analysi?) is creating my own marketing evaluation process that helps me point out flaws in their current marketing.

I just registered a domain and am building it out specifically to give away a free marketing audit whether its for their postcard, yellow page ad, voicemail, flyers, business card, or websites.

This simply opens up the opportunity to present them with a better way.

At the end of the day, as “offline consultants,” who said we only have to help businesses with their online marketing?

If you give them some value and insight into ANY of their marketing, it makes whatever solutions you provide much more urgent!

Hey Alex – great idea – and yes – I always laugh at the term ‘offline consultants’ as we indeed are marketing consultants (a profession that goes back I’m sure to ancient Babylon days!).

Boy – do I lust for the late 1990′s when ‘marketing consulting’ firms charged $100,000 for a website to be done (no kidding)…wow…

Technology advances + the world is Flat = a 100k website in 2000 to less than $10k now!

    Hey, Maria.
Great article. I like Jerry West’s stuff.

It would be awesome if Sean would be willing to put a quick video together giving a bit of his take on providing this type of “on-the-spot” site analysis for a local business, as some of the talking points might be a bit different.

    Thanks!

    Jared

Hi: I would like to know how to use the Yslow on the clients website. Also the (pulled from the HTTP Headers Firefox extension), what does that mean or how to use?
He has hammered out his phone presentation and directly addressed the purpose of the call and the problematic solution for the client. Very good.

Hey Regina! yslow is a firefox plugin – will ask sean to do a quick vid tutorial

I love how he confirms what I’ve been saying to all of you- that if they ask you for

      1. your portfolio

      - they are just not interested in buying from you – more like copying your stuff!

      :) maria gudelis

here is an excerpt from his article:
Do not waste time convincing prospects how great you are because quite frankly, they do not care. Do not bother to show them examples of your previous work because they are not interested. They don’t care about what you have done for others. What they care about is what you can do for them.
