Elements of a Great Press Release for SEO

maria gudelis | May 22, 2008

There are a few key factors to consider when writing a press release for your business. Keep in mind, a press release is a great way to get traffic to your real estate business as well. I’ve seen some great press releases drive qualified buyers to ebay real estate auctions!

The first thing to consider in a press release is to include your ‘keyword’ in the title of the press release. This is critical to get some ‘google love’. For instance, if you want to brand your company name, say “Cool San Francisco Real Estate” then the press release title should have those exact words in the title. Additionally, you want to include those exact words at least 3 times in the body of the press release.

How long should your press release be? Well – for ‘organic Search Engine Optimization’ you really should not go over 50o words. You well get more ‘google love’ that way. If you are going for major impact and get an interview type press release, then I’d suggest you do two press releases, one with the goal of ‘google love’ for online traffic, and another one with the goal of getting an interview and publicity from that!

Your tips for SEO press releases are fabulous, and it’s a good reminder to include keywords in the headline.

Another tip: Write a sub-head. That is, a smaller headline that goes under the main headline. That’s another excellent place for keywords.

As a publicity expert, I get so many questions about press releases that I created a free press release tutorial that shows people how to write and post press releases online, where consumers can find them.
